There is one very famous quote by Robin Sharma the author of 'The Monk Who Sold His Ferrari' which states, "Change is hard at first, messy in the middle and gorgeous at the end."
The quote is self-explanatory if you put enough understanding into it. Every change has to go through a lot of resistance, it's simply because of people or things being a lot comfortable with the 'current way' of working. Even if they know that the suggested changes are required and sometimes crucial for the process itself. They will resist it a lot simply because they are not ready to see the outcome or even if they are aware of the outcome, they are not ready to leave the comfort zone of current working practices. Let's call this phase as 'HARD AT FIRST' Phase.
Then there comes the second phase, let's call it the 'MESSY MIDDLE' Phase. So, once you crossed the resistance phase and try to apply the new or changed methods simply because people have to learn new things and might need some training etc for understanding how to the application of changes. People will be bit iterated and will also be trying to cope with the changes, here you need to support people to keep things under control and keep the spirit high of people and need to tell them why this process is necessary every now and then without losing you or letting anyone else their cool, and gradually things do fall in place.
Once the things are falling in place almost every time you try, you are in the last phase of change and it's called 'GORGEOUS PHASE'. This phase is the actual phase where you shall be grateful for all the hardships which you and people around you have taken for the change and now the change is actually yielding the fruits of all discomforts you have been through.
I have tried to do some deception of a great quote in my own words and somewhat tried to explain how to deal with the different phases of the change process in the above paragraphs. But the most important thing you need to understand is, you must be ready to embrace the changes that come to you. Life is a series of events and situations where you need to change ways of working more than once and again and again as well.
So whenever life throws you in a situation, just ask yourself, "are you ready to embrace the change?"
